Security and Personal Safety is about risk reduction and the protection of people and property. Organisations have a duty of care for the health, safety and wellbeing of both their staff and clients. By having effective security and risk reduction measures incorporated into their policy procedures and training the likelihood of the organisation, or the individual’s security and personal safety being compromised, will be reduced or eliminated.

Under the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 an employer has the responsibility to ensure that first aid provision or emergency medical care in the workplace is sufficient enough to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. This includes carrying out a First Aid at Work needs assessment to decide where, how many and what types of first aiders are required plus providing training and refresher training for those individuals.

All of our courses are Qualsafe accredited and fully comply with the current regulations and approved codes of practice. Certificates are valid for three years after which candidates will be required to complete a refresher course to renew their qualification.

FUNDING FOR COURSES AND TRAINING - Ministry of Defence Course Funding Routes

Career Transition Partnership -
Graduated Resettlement Time (GRT)

Allowing you to take a quantity of resettlement time that is commensurate with your length of service. For example, 35 days are available for those who have served 16 years.

Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC)

  • ELC Awards are available in two “Tiers”: the “Lower Tier” level of up to £1000 per annum for those with four or more eligible years’ service; and the “Upper Tier” level of up to £2000 per annum for those with eight or more years’ eligible service. Providing they meet all criteria, personnel may make ELC claims in up to three separate financial years (which need not be consecutive and may be a combination of lower tier and upper tier funds) either while in service or for up to ten years after leaving.

  • ELC funds may be directed at one learning purpose (such as successive years’ study towards a particular qualification) or different purposes in each of the three

Standard Learning Credits (SLC Scheme)

  • The SLC Scheme allows personnel to obtain financial assistance for learning costs. You are able to claim 80% of your course fees up to a maximum of £175 per Financial Year.

  • To qualify for SLC funding, the course of study must lead to a nationally recognised qualification, have substantial developmental value and directly benefit the Service. If you are receiving funding from other Services sources you will not be able to claim SLC, the only exception to this rule is the Open University Summer School sponsorship. Most types of learning provision, including that which is based on a Distance learning Package are eligible for funding under the Scheme.
