FV 107 CVR(T) Scimitar is the mainstay reconnaissance vehicle with which all Formation
Reconnaissance Regiments are equipped, as well as all Close
Reconnaissance Troops and Platoons of Armoured and Mechanised
Battlegroups.
The Scimitar is an ideal reconnaissance
vehicle, mobile and fast with good communications and excellent
viewing equipment. The vehicle’s small size and low ground pressure
make it extremely useful where the terrain is hostile and movement
difficult.
Scimitar is due to be replaced by the Scout Reconnaissance vehicle,
trials of which are expected to start in 2013.
